1. What does Pro Bee Rescue do?

Pro Bee Rescue specializes in the humane removal and relocation of honeybees from Residential and commercial properties and all natural outdoor settings. Our goal is to safely capture and relocate the bees to sustainable habitats where they can continue to thrive, rather than exterminating them.

2. Why should I choose Pro Bee Rescue instead of pest control?

Answer:

Pest control companies typically exterminate bees, which is a simpler and cheaper process. However, they do not remove the existing comb or the dead bees, leading to potential long-term damage for homeowners and the environment.

Why Pest Control Can Be Harmful:

  • Without bees maintaining the comb, honey and nectar can leak into walls and ceilings, causing costly damage to your home and belongings.
  • The abandoned hive attracts pests such as ants, rats, and other vermin.

3. Where do you relocate the bees?

Answer:
We relocate the bees to our established apiary in the Santa Monica mountains where they are cared for and can continue to pollinate plants. This helps support local agriculture and the overall health of bee populations.

4. What types of bee removals do you offer?

Answer:
We offer the following bee removal services:

  • Swarm Removal – Capturing large clusters of bees that have recently settled in a visible location (like trees, fences, or sheds).
  • Hive Removal from Structures and Natural Outdoor Settings – Removing established hives from walls, roofs, attics, sheds, trees, bushes, water areas and other structures.
  • Bee Relocation – Transporting the bees to safe, managed apiaries.

5. How much does it cost to remove bees?

Answer:
The cost varies depending on the location of the hive, the difficulty of the removal, and the size of the colony. Generally, standard swarm removals start at $250, while removals from walls, roofs, or other structures start at $500.

6. Will you remove bees from inside my walls, roof, or attic?

Answer:
Yes. We specialize in removing bee colonies from inside walls, roofs, attics, and other enclosed spaces. We carefully open the structure, remove the bees, comb, and honey, and then relocate the bees to a safe habitat. We also offer some repairs (if needed) to restore the area, or we can refer you to a licensed professional.

7. How long does the bee removal process take?

Answer:
The time required for bee removal depends on the size and location of the hive.

  • Swarm removals typically take 1-2 hours.
  • Hives inside walls/roofs may take several hours to a full day, especially if repairs are involved.

We always aim to work as quickly and efficiently as possible while ensuring the bees are safely removed.

8. Will the bees come back after removal?

Answer:
We take extra measures to prevent bees from returning. This includes:

  • Removing the entire hive, including honeycomb and brood.
  • Cleaning out the space to eliminate lingering bee pheromones.
  • Offering sealing services to close off the entry point.

However, if you do not seal the area or make repairs, there is always a chance that another swarm may move in later.

9. Can you repair the damage after removing the bees?

Answer:
Yes. We offer repair and sealing services available after the removal to prevent future infestations. This includes basic patching holes, sealing cracked or separated areas between wood, stucco in the immediate removal area only. More involved restoration like roof repairs, heavy stucco or exterior coverings or interior repairs like drywall and painting must be discussed prior to the Bee rescue.

10. Are honeybees dangerous?

Answer:
Honeybees are generally not aggressive unless provoked or if their hive is threatened. However, if a hive has become established in or near your home, the bees may become defensive. It’s always best to leave the bees alone and call a professional for safe removal as soon as possible.

11. What should I do if I see a swarm of bees on my property?

Answer:
If you see a large cluster of bees hanging from a tree, fence, or structure, do not disturb them. The bees are likely scouting for a new home and may move on within a day or two. However, if the swarm becomes a concern, call us, and we can relocate them safely.

12. Do you remove wasps or hornets?

Answer:
Yes, we remove wasps and their nests. For wasp removal, give us a call or fill out the contact us form.

13. Can you save the honey from the hive?

Answer:
Possibly, if the hive has produced honeycomb, we always try salvage and clean the honeycomb during the removal. However, each removal has its own circumstances and we cannot guarantee that honey will be available to harvest. Honey cannot always be consumed if it has been exposed to insulation, pesticides, or contaminants.

14. What should I do if bees get inside my house?

Answer:
If a few bees have entered your home, simply open windows or doors to let them out. However, if you notice a steady stream of bees or a hive inside your walls, it’s important to contact us immediately for safe removal.

15. Can I remove the bees myself?

Answer:
We strongly advise against removing bees on your own. Without the proper equipment, experience, and understanding of bee behavior, it can be dangerous to attempt a removal. Additionally, improper removal can damage your property and result in bee stings.

16. How long does it take for a new hive to grow?

Answer:
If bees have moved into an area they can produce comb very rapidly, usually this process starts immediately and within 4 – 6 weeks the colony and hive can double in size. It is important to identify that bees are present and addressed as soon as possible before they become an issue.

17. Do you offer emergency bee removals?

Answer:
Yes. If you have an urgent bee issue, such as bees inside your home, a swarm near a high-traffic area, or a large hive posing a safety concern, we offer same-day emergency services. Contact us immediately, and we’ll prioritize your case.

18. Will my homeowner’s insurance cover bee removal?

Answer:
In some cases, homeowner’s insurance may cover structural bee removal, especially if the bees have caused damage to your home. However, coverage varies by policy. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for details.

Answer:
After we remove the bees, it’s important to:

  • Remove any honeycomb or residue that may attract new bees.
